Gay Youth in Aroostook
The world is changing at a rapid pace and to further complicate things, you are in one of the most confusing times of your life. You are trying to find your identity, your place in this world. Your body and mind are changing and growing on a daily basis and sexual activities have entered your world. But there is something not quite “right”.
You are attracted to other men or women. Perhaps you are attracted to both. Perhaps you have a penis where you feel there should be a vagina. The worst part is there is no one you can talk to about these feelings because you live in Aroostook County.
No one prepared you for this. You went into puberty knowing it was going to be a tough journey, but the added stress of exploring your “unusual” tendencies simply wasn’t covered in Sex Ed.
Being gay, bisexual or transgendered isn’t a choice you made, and it may not have been how you envisioned your future. It’s who you are, and there are millions of others in the world going through the exact same battle within themselves.
There are no tests to give you a definitive “gay” or “straight” result. Only you can explore yourself, your feelings and discover who you are. It’s okay to be confused about your sexuality; you are not alone. More importantly, it’s okay if you are gay, bisexual or transgendered. Even in Aroostook County.
Ron King will be in Presque Isle June 5,6, and 7 to give free HIV tests.
